    Global Climate Strike --
in Boston and Nationwide

         The Jewish Climate Action Network (JCAN-MA) is supporting and sending a contingent to the Boston City Hall Plaza this Friday, 10-3, for the Boston Climate Strike.

    Contingent coming? If a contingent from your congregation or organization is coming (irrespective of any formal endorsement), please inform JCAN at Groups from Hebrew College, Temple Israel, Congregation Dorshei Tzedek, and Congregation Beth El (Sudbury) are on their way. We expect hundreds of Jews, affiliated or not, singly and in groups, to show up among many thousands anticipated in Boston. Please come by the JCAN table there.

    Join young people striking from school worldwide in leaving classrooms, laboratories, offices, and other worksites! NFTY (Reform youth movement) has been publicizing the strike! Have you heard NYC schoolchildren are already excused for the Strike!

    Bring a shofar to join audibly! Even if your own shofar calls fall short of those you hear at the High Holy Days.The Global Climate Strike is a shofar call: a loud blast calling out to all humankind to pay attention! Arrive anytime from 10 AM to make art, meet up, browse sponsors’ tables, shmooze, etc. Bromg cardbpard amd felt markers to make signs. Here are some ideas for slogans for your signs.

    Rally on the Plaza from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.

    March to the State House nearby (opportunity for shofar blasts), 1-1:30, to demand real actions by the Governor and our State Government. We will take our demands inside (1:30-2:30) to our elected leaders. (Note: security checks for entering the State House.)

    Continue to call your congregation’s rabbi, lay leaders, teachers, youth advisors to join this action! Put up or hand out the attached Poster! Reach out to your institutions, employers, colleagues, friends, and family to join!

Dealing with the human existential crisis of global climate change is our ultimate task of Tikkun Olam, repairing of the world, for which we are all responsible.  If we cannot slow climate change, limit its eventual scope, and preserve the livability of this Earth for generations to come, then nothing else matters.
