About 35 of us gathered outside the Boston office of the EPA today in response to a call from the American Federation of Government Employees, the union representing EPA workers. Although small, we were highly committed and in good spirits (and the treats from Insomnia Cookies were fantastic). David Fillingham, a relatively new supporter of JCAN, represented the organization along with Andy Oram. Others came from 350ma, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Sierra Club, Environment Massachusetts, Charles River Watershed Association, and Clean Water Action. Many passersby cheered and thanked us, as did the acting regional head of the EPA, who stepped out to exchange good feelings. The 30% announced cut to the EPA is only the beginning of the devastation about to be unleashed against our air, water, wildlife, food, and health.
